Randy Lerner has apparently gone off the reservation. Yesterday, he does the old staredown at his own team in the tunnel to the locker room. "I want them to see me.", he says.

Then today, I find out he is meeting with the two "fan protesters". Great PR move on his part, I guess. But these two jamokes think they can actually change things. I can't think of anything they can tell Lerner that he doesn't already know. My guess: He'll charm the rubber masks off of these guys and the protest will be quashed after this meeting.

To cap it all off, the Kok of ManKok got canned. Yes, George Kokinis, the Claude Rains of Berea, was fired today by the Browns. Obviously, Lerner asked the question, "Who's responsible for this roster?" Then Eric Mangini produced a copy of George's contract, while pointing at George, where it stated explicitly he had control of the 53-man roster.

So, the man least responsible for this mess gets the axe. Lest we forget, Randy Lerner also had this type of internal strife after Year One of his reign, when it looked like Phil Savage and Romeo Crennel might be out in a power struggle with John Collins. Collins was prepared to fire Savage, with Crennel then resigning in protest. In a giant swerve, Collins was then asked to leave.

As Bruce Hornsby likes to say, "Some things will never change..."
