A trip down Memory Lane. Here is a page (click for larger view) from the PD TV Week some 36 years ago. This predates remotes, cable, VCRs for the most part.

A few things jump out:

At 4:00 on Channel 8, it's "Vin Scully". It must be "It Takes Two", which I have erased from memory.

30-minute soap operas.

Channels 23, 43 and 61 not yet 24-hour operations.

Shows designated Black and White.

Day and night versions of "The Price is Right".

Channel 8 has "Thrill Seekers" on at 7:30!

"Porter Wagner" on Channel 23. Spelling errors back then, too.

A Cleveland Crusaders game on Channel 43.

Meal of Links

Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin will host the Oscars. On paper, that sounds terrific.

The top 50 Movies of the Decade. By my count, I saw 22 of these in the theater. The most recent miss was "In The Loop" which was at the Cedar-Lee this past August for about a minute.

Nate Silver breaks down the election. I think the standout number is young people reverted back to voting form in an off-year election. They don't show up all the time.

Exercise Yard

Derek Anderson is bad this year. Now we have proof he is historically bad. In the last 40 years, through the first 8 games, Anderson's QB rating is the 14th worst. Some really bad QBs have made this list, as well.

BTW, here is what George Kokinis did every day at the office. Advance to 5:54.
