Luis Vizcaino joins the club. First batter he faces, game-winning homer. And it was hammered.

Wedgie is now starting to walk down the path that is a precursor of many a manager or head coach's demise: Calling out players.

That's something he rarely does and it's sort of listed as one of his assets. I mean, even the beloved Sam Rutigliano fell into that trap with the Browns before he was axed.

But Wedge had these words for Jensen "Keep pumpin' that fastball" Lewis: "If you're going to make it up here, you can't miss spots by a foot to a foot and a half and expect to have success. We're up against it right now, but he's got to pitch. If you miss, you have to miss in the right area. You certainly can't miss by a foot and a half to two feet. That's ridiculous."

Just this morning, he was quoted as saying, "I was really encouraged with the way (Jensen) Lewis and (Matt) Herges threw the ball (Tuesday)."

He's losing it, folks.

Meal of Links

Wolfgang's Vault has recently added a lot of Tubes concerts available for download. These live shows are representative of the type of entertaining shows they were famous for back then. Check out New Year's Eve at the Winterland especially. Stanford band doing "Living in the USA". "I Love Lucy", a Crime Theme medley segueing into "Mondo Bondage"! Terrific version of "Slipped My Disco". WPOD, of course. A band that continues to be criminally underplayed. They are back at Tangier in October this year.

The Summer of 1988 at the movies. Probably the best find that summer? "Midnight Run". I do recall I saw Morgan Freeman for the first time in "Clean and Sober". Saw "The Last Temptation of Christ" in Montreal that summer. There was a bigass theatre in our hotel and I remember it being the rage. Odd fact: "Die Hard" and "A Fish Called Wanda" opened up the same week. "Die Hard" on only 21 screens and "Wanda" on 3. That is hard to fathom in 2009. "Bambi" and "Dead Pool" same week, as well.

Look who still uses the death penalty.

25 controversial movies. "Warriors" at #14, but "The Da Vinci Code"? Yikes! Oddly enough, "The Last Temptation of Christ" clocks in at #6. Good times for Barbara Hershey. Mary Magdalene and Harriet Bird in a short timeframe. Caviezel is Number One.

"The Bartender Hates You"

"Jam Wow"

One kid's incredibly long story on catching someone's first major league homer in Miller Park. It's not like the guy asked for season tickets or anything.
