I already have a deposit down on a new roof, so days like this remind me of why I need a new one. Probably will be done sometime in the next 3 or 4 weeks. Minor nuisance, but I expect nice weather until this thing gets constructed.

Meal of Links

Pawlenty gives up. That concludes an awful week for him. But he was a cipher as candidate.

A rather lengthy conversation with John Sayles. Maybe the last of the independents.

Julian Assange says the UK riots allow the government to trample more rights. Especially cyber rights.

Speaking of social media and "flash mobs'. Philadelphia has had a rough go lately. Mayor tells curfew-age kids to buy a watch. We don't have any apps with a BlackBerry, but we sure have encryption!

Exercise Yard

Choo is back. Fukudome is hitting similar to Beltran, thus far. Kipnis is tearing it up. Orlando Cabrera is now OPSing worse than when he was here.

Bullpen seems to be coming back around. Chris Perez with two easy saves in a row.

Although there was a rainout today, things are looking good at Progressive Field.

Can we start thinking about postseason? One weird thing about this year's early start, I just realized the season ends on a Wednesday and the ALDS starts two days later. And the only off-days in the playoffs are travel days.

Visitor

None, on a rainy Sunday.
