Revisiting "The French Connection" (with clips).

This remains one of the movies I will stay up any length of time to watch. OK, I did that with Nicolas Cage and David Caruso last week in "Kiss of Death", but that sucked.

Seriously, "French Connection" has everything you want in a movie. The greatest car chase ever, Oscar-winning Gene Hackman as Popeye Doyle wearing a great hat, William Friedkin's use of handhelds and doc-style filming, great supporting work from Roy Scheider, friction between the feds and the cops, the monotony of good police work all combined into a great film. And the sequel was top-notch as well.

The Emmys were on last night. I didn't watch it. But from what I understand, they were terrible.

In 2009, you can get in free to Disneyland or DisneyWorld on your birthday. I'm sure "Restrictions may apply."

Hitchens asks, "Is Obama another Dukakis"? Certainly, I cringed at that question. More on Palin. "What is so unnerving about the candidacy of Sarah Palin is the degree to which she represents—and her supporters celebrate—the joyful marriage of confidence and ignorance."

And you thought the Browns were bad. Bill Ford, Jr. says he wanted to fire Matt Millen as GM of the Lions a while ago. But his Dad has final say and Millen still has a job.
