I can't say enough about the last season of "The Wire" on HBO. This season focuses on the newspaper in Baltimore and the story line mirrors how the paper, much like the police force, has to cope with cost cutting (Internet and outside ownership) and must pick and choose what it can cover, as opposed to what it used to cover.

It is going to be interesting to see if one story can revitalize both.

And it, once again, fits in nicely with my Sunday night of TV viewing. This cycle has worked for years. One show leaves and another one picks up. Brilliant!

How's this for timing. Big news at the LA Times, a Tribune paper. The editor is leaving because the new owner wants budget cuts. Apparently the dispute surrounded expenses of covering the presidential primary season.

Meal of Links

I do not watch "Friday Night Lights". But this was an interesting piece on why the show isn't more popular. Today, NBC announced they have sold 150,000 Dwight Schrute bobbleheads, so there you go.

The Coachella lineup was announced today. The Racontuers, Verve, Jack Johnson, Roger Waters, Death Cab for Cutie, and a little band known as Kraftwerk! I even see Dwight Yoakam in there. And it looks like All Points West ("Coachella East") is on track for August.

We really don't wanna go virtual, do we? It appears we crave the face-to-face.

Exercise Yard

The cheapest shots during the college football season. Poor Jake Locker.

That reminds me of the best thing I saw at the Browns games this past season. No video of Kellen Winslow's cartwheel.

But this captures the essence of a live game:
